The Craft was one of the first songs I recorded for this project. When I didn't have a real project or promo materials to put out, The Craft and Curtain Call stayed in my Mp3 player and I'd play those tracks for people to get their opinion. The Craft to me is like what the Cement III's are to Jordan Brand: Its definitive. Its the basis for how I've built my sound up to this point. At the time I was really stuck on soul samples and the chance to build off one that was composed so recently was dope. Every time I see ATL and the original song plays it takes me back to being in the booth recording it. The first line of the song was actually inspired by V's soliloquy in the movie 'V for Vendetta'. For a second I thought about writing the entire song like that but at that point the writing would have been a really tedious task and I was under pressure to put out more music as soon as possible. Also around the same time, I found out XV had already made a song like that called 'V for Vendetta' and I hate being the last to get to a concept. I might revisit writing like that in the future, but I think 'The Craft' turned out pretty dope the way it is.
